Hydrotermal sources inject sulfide (as H2S) into the Agria Creek.2. Sulfur Oxidizing Bacteria oxidize sulfide to sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and convert Agria Creek into an acidic stream.3. Sulfuric acid dissolves aluminum and silicon in rocks forming aluminum ions (Al3+) and dissolved silica (H4SiO4).4. The Buenavista River is rich in dissolved silica, diatoms, and alkaline bicarbonate ions. (HCO3-).5. The partial neutralization of the acid from the Agria Creek when mixed with the alkaline ions from the Buenavista River causes the aluminum ions and dissolved silica to combine, forming amorphous colloidal particles of hydroxyaluminosilicate in the Teñidero. 6. Colloidal hydroxyaluminosilicate colloidal particles measuring tenths of a micrometer scatter the blue component of the spectrum of the solar light sand produce the observed color of The Celeste River.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://eduardolibby.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/dispersion.png</image:loc><image:title>dispersion</image:title></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://eduardolibby.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/eduardo-3545.jpg</image:loc><image:title>The author in Perito Moreno Glacier, Argentine Patagonia. What appears to be a greenish-white formation are deposits of the mineral that precipitates at the mixing point. A few meters downstream the turbulent flow suspends the particles thus creating Río Celeste.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://eduardolibby.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/elibby-0486410-pano.jpg</image:loc><image:title>In the "Blue Pond" you can see that water of Río Celeste is a little greener than the color of the sky. last picture was a near-screw up. The Red-faced Spinetail hung from a Tree Fern very close to me and I quickly shot before it flew away. Exposure for the shadows created a lot of green flare from the vegetation. Fill Flash would have helped here too. I had to use quite liberally Lightroom’s Dehaze and Clarity sliders to fix the problem. I am so glad they created these adjustments!</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://eduardolibby.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/elibby-0286017.jpg</image:loc><image:title>elibby-0286017</image:title><image:caption>The Purple-throated Mountain Gem feeding on Ericaeaceous flowers is a subject I need to go back to photograph, using a flash this time.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://eduardolibby.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/elibby-0286009-2-copy.jpg</image:loc><image:title>elibby-0286009-2 copy</image:title><image:caption>The Collared Redstart is one of my favorite birds. 500D</image:title><image:caption>
I photographed my computer’s screen at close range using my Rokinon 135mm f/2. The sharply focused area (where the field of focus is flat) is red due to Moire interference. Notice how in the first picture, taken at f/2 with the normally mounted close-up filter, nothing is really sharp but stopping down rapidly creates a large sharp area. In the second row, with the filter mounted in reverse there is a sharp zone even at f/2 but it does not widen as much by stopping down. This is useful if you want to isolate your subject but not so good for keeping a flat object sharp.</image:caption></image:image><image:image><image:loc>https://eduardolibby.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/elibby-0184612-eng.jpg</image:loc><image:title>Rivinia humilis (Phytolaccaceae)</image:title><image:caption>I made this photo using a Nikon Close-up filter and my 70-300 mm zoom lens at a large aperture to isolate the fruits from the background.
